Fix & Fly, 8 Dec 2007
by John Ratzenberger
Remember the comments from our Picnic Day about leaky roof, etc. Well, Saturday 8 December, was our Maintenance Day, and a fine day it was - clear skies, light breeze, but work to do first. The grass got cut, the weeds got whacked, the bear poop got shoveled up, the pit line got repaired, and most of all, the shed got a new roof and coat of paint. Unfortunately the pump proved beyond repair, although I'm still looking for the right diaphram for it ...

With the site cleaned up and some food eaten, it was time to fly ... Everyone got busy putting together their planes. Rob Vasquez brought a ship he picked up at a swap meet -- there were some strange things about the set-up and getting it configured was more than we could handle in an afternoon.

Don Beale didn't have much luck -- a busted wing on #1 and a reluctant #2.

Jim Davis got his beloved Ultrastick up in no time and beat up the skies. He and I worked for a while to get the plane to fly by at right altitude and speed so my camera could catch it & Jim in the same shot. This was way more a problem of my camera and I than it was of Jim's flying skills !!!

Jim brought another, older ship to play with also.

'Whit' Whitman brought his plane along also ... (I lost my notes on what it is).
